Whether you're looking to learn the craft, experiment with various forms, or just produce a bunch of new work, this class offers the opportunity to expand your knowledge of poetry and get writing. We'll explore four different poetry prompts with new forms and subjects to expand our understanding of what a poem can be. We'll read a few examples of published authors' approaches to these prompts, and produce a new draft of a poem every week. To kick off each week’s topic, the instructor will provide a packet of readings and a short lecture, as well as a prompt for the week. We will also discuss each other's work, and offer questions and feedback to help guide the writer on their way. You will leave the course with fresh drafts of four poems and the insight, inspiration, and knowledge of craft to begin tackling revision.

*NOTE that while our handy dandy "Schedule" tab states a 6-7pm class time, there are actually no live meetings for this class! Weekly lessons and assignments open each Wednesday. Students will receive an invitation to Wet Ink, our online class platform, before 5pm on the first day of class.
