Get Lit Up!

If you need a new way to get those creative juices flowing, or if you need a break from working on the next great American novel, we have a perfect solution. This Thursday, the Lit Up gala and dance party will be serving the Next Great American Whiskey Drink (NGAWD), as we dance to booty-shakin’ tunes from local band, Ripcord. Shake a leg out from under your writing desk and hang out with other writers and supporters of Boston’s writing community at an event unlike any other!

Tickets to the dance party are $25, and proceeds support GrubStreet programming and scholarship fund. But you can create a party within the party by purchasing party pack tickets (ten tickets for the price of eight!). As easy as that, you’ll provide your own dance circle.

For those who need a break from the hipness of the dance floor, The Grand Circle Gallery offers comfortable places to chat with friends and admire vintage travel posters. Attendees also can pick up a book from our Pushcart Prizes vendor for a chance to win cool rewards, including bed and breakfast stays on the Cape or Berkshires, signed first-editions, many other gift certificates, and more!

If you made it out last year, you know the photo booth kept things interesting, and Bad Apple is returning this year for more goofy documentation of the evening. Drinks sponsors include Bully Boy Distillery, Pretty Things Brewery, and BRIX wine shop.

Tickets are also still available for the VIP portion of the event, featuring 10x2 performances (ten writers, two minutes each), and the presentation of the first Grubby award to poet and Bread Loaf Director, Michael Collier. So come join us! Get writing! Get dancing! Get grubby! And support our mission as an innovative, rigorous and welcoming community for writers who together create their best work, find audience, and elevate the literary arts for all.
