Dear Writers,

Just when you thought it was safe to visit book clubs by phone and therefore wander around in your underwear drinking wine while you talk to there's SKYPE!

I find Skype miraculous. Every time I use it, I think of my dad, who died in 1999. How amazed he would be that you can talk to people through your computer screen!  It's so space-age. So Jetsons. Yet another way to bring us all closer together

When I was 20, I did my junior year of college aboard in London, at Queen Mary Westfield College.  If heaven consists of a time in your life you might relive over and over again as a closed loop, my semester in London would be a good candidate. In memory, it's a Van-Gogh-like swirl of  nightclubs and museums, travel and theater, Doc Martens and tiny Spandex dresses and big floppy hats, and a dilapidated row house in the West End and my single room (awarded to me because I was a smoker) always crowded, especially in the wee hours ...
