Behind the Scenes at #Muse15: Intern Edition

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Muse season! The big event is right around the corner. I’m ashamed to say that I’m an English major who has lived in Boston for the past 4 years and this is the first time I’ll be attending (working?) the Muse and the Marketplace conference. However, as a GrubStreet intern, I’ve jumped into the Muse scene in a big way this year.

It’s easy to underestimate how much goes into such a huge and exciting event. For those of you who are new to Muse, or have only ever attended, I’m bringing you behind the scenes to see just how it all comes together.

  •  The volunteers – Fun fact: did you know (clearly I didn’t) that there are over 50 volunteers who come together every year to make Muse happen? They start working a month before the conference, making classroom 5 at Grub their headquarters, and tirelessly collaborate to make sure that your experience runs flawlessly.
  • The marketing – Hey, that’s me – your friendly neighborhood marketing intern! A huge piece of Muse is the marketing aspect. We flood your Twitter, Facebook, BostInno, and blogospheres with fun facts and key info, and hope to engage you all in meaningful conversations about the conference. I also stalk the #Muse15 hashtag like it’s my job (because, well, it is) so keep the tweets coming!

  • The fun stuff – Most importantly, I’m so excited to get to see all the hard work come together. Fellow intern Hanna and I are already practicing our dance moves for the big dance party. I’m also eagerly anticipating “Literary Idol” and plan on channeling my inner Simon Cowell during the event.

Sarah Pease is our Spring marketing intern.
