Applications for the Short Story Publishing Intensive for BIPOC Writers due *Monday Night*!
Short Story Publishing Intensive for BIPOC Writers
(Online: Zoom) with Rolando Lopez (applications due February 6th)
This 10-week capstone workshop is for BIPOC writers who have workshop experience and a short story that has been extensively revised. Limited to 9 students, this workshop will help BIPOC writers navigate the publishing side of writing, which has historically marginalized the voices of BIPOC writers.
During this workshop, you will:
- add the finishing touches to a single short story that has been significantly revised
- write an effective cover letter
- identify specific publications and/or contests to submit your short story to
- conclude the workshop with a submit-a-thon event
Through critical workshops of your story, visits from guests who have extensive publishing experience, and professionals from the publishing industry, you will gain knowledge of publishing standards and trends that might give you a better chance of getting published! Applications are due TONIGHT by 11:59pm—just share your prior workshop experience and a 5-10 page writing sample. Apply here.
